Jermaine's Bio

Passionate, gifted, and anointed are words often used to describe Oklahoma saxophonist Jermaine Mondaine. It’s not just what he plays, but it’s how he plays it. When he plays you know he means every note of it!

Jermaine’s musical journey started in 1985 when he heard a local Jr. High recruiting band performing at as his elementary school. Excited about what he heard, he told his father about the concert and explained how he wanted to join the band. That summer he and his father walked to the local music store and bought his first saxophone (later to be known as "Grace the Purple Sax") and the rest is history!

Jermaine’s pursuit of musical excellence was relentless to say the least. He gave up eating lunch his entire eighth grade year so he could play with the West Jr. High Jazz Band which met during his lunch hour. The band was playing college level arrangements of songs like Birdland, and A Night in Tunisia. After only two years of playing, Jermaine began developing an ability to play by ear through playing along with his father’s jazz albums and playing in church with his mother.

During his high school years he won numerous jazz soloist awards and accolades, and played an important role in helping his high school jazz band become State Champions his junior and senior year. He was often sent to represent his church at musicals and district meetings. As teenager he was privileged to play with gospel greats Timothy Wright, Mattie Moss Clark and the Clark Sisters, and James Moore.

Jermaine’s musical abilities earned him a full scholarship to Lincoln University of Missouri. Though the band program was in a rebuilding phase, the university had one of the area’s finest jazz and gospel choirs under the direction of one of the world’s best directors, Robert L. Mitchell. Mitchell’s demand for excellence pushed Jermaine to a new level. It was during his college years that Jermaine got a taste of playing professionally. He recorded commercial jingles that could be heard throughout mid Missouri and Rochester, New York. It was also during his college years that Jermaine organized and performed a professional level concert that featured the area’s finest musicians which included an upcoming drummer and keyboardist named Fred Leonard.

Jermaine has been blessed to share the stage and record with some of the world's best and most anointed talent (seen and unseen) such as: Phil Driscoll (world renown trumpet player), Sharon Daugherty (singer co-pastor of Victory Christian Center), Wayman Tisdale (bassist and NBA superstar), The Swon Brothers - Zach and Colton Swon (American Idol season 7 top 50 finalist), Dennis Jernigan (world renowned worship leader and song writer), Scott Matthews (world renowned producer/musician), Bishop Noel Jones (pastor and world renowned speaker/author), David Howell (pastor, musician, friend and brother) and many more!

A true renaissance man, Jermaine is married to his college sweetheart Deonandrea and has two sons Devin, 9 and Jordan, 8. He has spent the last 10 years working in advertising and marketing producing and managing numerous magazines and publications. He is the associate pastor at his church, and travels the mid west evangelizing and sharing his God given gifts.
